The dispute centers on the Sea Lion offshore oil project, which the government wants halted. TN reported that the question now is what can happen if the United Kingdom does not stop the Sea Lion project within two weeks.5
Clarín, a centre-right outlet, framed the move as Milei turning to the United Nations to denounce Great Britain over the Malvinas after having criticized the body. The government's demand and its threat of international litigation were reported across centre, centre-right and left outlets.613

President Javier Milei also suspended a planned trip to London and a talk at Oxford amid rising tension over the dispute.12
