Anwar says fifth MADANI budget will strengthen economy and ease cost of living

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the fifth MADANI budget is determined to strengthen the economy and ensure growth is felt by the people. He also said economic growth must be translated into the well-being of the people. The budget is also referred to as Budget 2027.1234

Malaysia Gives Court Registrar Two Months to Answer PAC on e-Jamin System

The Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court has been given two months to respond to the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) remarks regarding the e-Jamin system. The e-Jamin system continues to operate under an exemption from the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The government is reviewing the official agreement for the e-Jamin system before it is brought to the Cabinet.1234

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said said the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court must answer the PAC's remarks on e-Jamin. She said the response is required to address the PAC's concerns. The PAC's remarks relate to the management and accountability of the e-Jamin system.56

Sinar Harian raised questions about who authorized the e-Jamin system and who is responsible for its management. The outlet highlighted the need for clarity on the authority and accountability behind the system. These questions remain central to the ongoing scrutiny.7

The government is scrutinizing the official agreement for the e-Jamin system before presenting it to the Cabinet. The review is part of the process to formalize the system's operations. The e-Jamin system remains in operation with the MOF exemption while the review continues.32

Malaysia Defends Talks With Myanmar Junta as Min Aung Hlaing Visits

Ruled paragraphs are attributed to the outlet named in them, not stated as established fact.

Malaysia's government has defended its engagement with Myanmar's military junta, saying negotiations and dialogue do not amount to endorsing atrocities. Kamil Munim made the argument as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim faced criticism for rolling out a red-carpet welcome for the junta chief. Malaysia says it remains open to dialogue with Myanmar.123

Attributed claim: The red-carpet reception for Min Aung Hlaing drew public criticism, with Malaysiakini, an oppositional outlet, questioning Anwar's decision to host the junta chief. Pro-government Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia, along with state broadcaster Portal Berita RTM, framed the visit around repatriation and Malaysia's openness to dialogue. The dispute is over the political framing of the same visit rather than the underlying facts.2453

Malaysia's Defence Ministry expects first LCS delivery in April 2027 without anti-ship missile launchers

Malaysia's Defence Ministry is expected to receive the first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS 1) in April 2027, with the handover to the ministry anticipated in that month. The LCS project is running 7.55 percent behind schedule, and Defence Minister Khaled Nordin is set to answer on the matter in Parliament.1234

Khaled Nordin said LCS 1 is expected to be received in April 2027 without an anti-ship missile launcher system. The vessel's delivery is therefore set to proceed before that weapons system is fitted.5

Ahmad Amzad described the walls of the LCS as appearing 'wrinkled' and not like those of a new ship. Hasan Karim called for the LCS issue to be investigated immediately without waiting for a Royal Commission of Inquiry.67

DAP has continued to raise the name of Ahmad Zahid in the LCS controversy, a line attributed to Fadzmel. The dispute over the project's handling has drawn in both the governing coalition and its critics.8
